Back from Alaska

We actually got back 2 weeks ago, but work has gotten in the way!
So, we started our "vacation" with a trip to the Big Island for the Rhoto Ironman 70.3 race. And what a Great race! I had a blow out on my rear tire. Literally! I ran over something that cut a chunk out of my rear tire, fortunately I carry a spare! It came in handy! Long story short, I changed the tire, inflated it. It went flat, I inflated it again, went flat again. Yeah, I realized at that point it was a pinch flat. Yep, I had a spare tire, but only 2 CO2 cartridges. So, I found myself waiting for the Tech Crew. They were fast, and kind. Kona Bikeworks....THANK YOU! So, I was back on the road after a total of 30 minutes. I finished the race 10 minutes slower than last year, but "technically" 20 minutes faster.
While I was out running the last discipline, my wonderful husband was dismantling my bike and packing it up for it's journey home. After the race it was back to the condo for a quick shower and finish packing. Then a race to drop of my bike to our wonderful friends T and D so they could ship it back to PHX via UPS while we were on our cruise.
So, we made that time slot. Then a race to the airport. As luck would have it, when we got to Honolulu, the flight was completely booked. We had tickets, but since it was a red-eye flight to Seattle we had hoped we could upgrade. Well, since it was fully booked Hawaiian Airlines was delighted to upgrade us!!!! First Class on a red-eye post race.....PRICELESS!
We landed in Seattle, our friends F and S were gracious enough to let us shower and rest up before we boarded the ship.
Well, I will keep it brief about Alaska. The state is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! The cruise line PRINCESS, SHIP SAPPHIRE was HORRIBLE!!! Apparently the cruise prior to ours had the Nora virus and the crew was short staffed for our cruise do to them pulling double duty. So, our vacation felt more like we were invading THEIR vacation. I mean, we spent a lot of money on this vacation. It was horrible!
I will never cruise on Princess again. EVER!
So, back to work. Next stop, Branson MO. for Branson Ironman 70.3. F and S will be going with us, and some triathlete friends too!
So, my training so far has been focused on cycling. HILLS, HILLS, HILLS!! And some running.
Till next time.
